February 16th Soirre!

The Soirree was a complete success. The food was great and the mingling was awesome. It was a nice informal and fun way to get to know others who are in our Department. This should definitely be done more often. Thanks to all who helped and who showed up!

·      Sign up sheet for talkbacks/booth/soiree

·      Ideas for food at soiree- cream puffs, veggie/fruit tray, cheese/crackers, heated tray, fruit pie

·      Booth: Alex will make the Speak-up forms

·      Talkbacks- create a clipboard for talkback facilitator

Hoodies- Katie will ask Brother Linton tomorrow at her meeting

Opening business: Heads for the following positions are needed:

                  Secretary: E’Lanae Johnson

The Soiree will be a week before the opening of Doubt at 8:30. Make a sign up list for duties. Set up early at 6:00? Get in contact with the caterers.

Feedback cards need to be made and handed out before the show.

Need people for original plays in the playwriting class. 2-3 nights of 10 minute plays. Contact bro. Hanson, he will put up posters.

Theatre Counsel Hoodies- Elizabeth Davenport volunteered to check out pricing

Talley’s Folly: Techies needed, red and brown M&Ms not touching for Brad… J/K. One whole week to set up in the black box right after Doubt to set up. Areas needed: Construction, Sound, and Lighting. Welcome to observe rehearsals and give feedback.

Welcome Back!

Hello all! 

Hope everyone's semester is off to a great start! Here's what we discussed in today's Theater Council meeting.

1. Bekka Fogle is our new President and we are still looking for the following officers/committee chairs: 

• Secretary
• Educational Opportunities Committee
• Campus Outreach Committee
• Creative Works Committee

2. Our big projects for the semester:

• Soirees/ Socials
• Facilitation of talkbacks/ feedback cards for productions
• Ushering for Comic Frenzy and invited dress rehearsals of other productions

3. Omar's news from the city:

• Reconstruction of the Romance Theatre is looking good and could possibly used for future student projects
• Discussed where the Celtic Festival will be performed- possibilities of campus or the Rexburg Tabernacle since Talley's Folly and Guitars Unplugged are the same weekend
• Possible 10-minute play festival in the Spring featuring the works of the students in the Playwriting class

4. Valerie Jones has volunteered to take over Celtic Festival

5. Brother Bates will talk to Hyrum about talkbacks and whether we need to facilitate those or if the cast and crew will do it themselves.

6. Bekka will find out what night the Doubt soiree will be. Also, the idea was brought up of having the soiree be a celebration for the cast and crew of Doubt as well as a Theatre Department opening social.

7. Brother Clifford would like us to revise the feedback cards so they look more professional. Bekka will contact Sara to get the original feedback card layout.

8. Discussed Theater Council hoodies to use ourselves as advertisement :)

9. Bekka will visit some theatre classes to promote Theater Council (especially ones with lots of freshmen)

10. Finally….INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO THEATER COUNCIL!

We are gonna have a great and really busy semester, so we welcome any and all students interested in theatre to join us!
